Description

WHAT

Magigoo Metal is designed as a professional first layer adhesive with BASF Ultrafuse® 316L. Magigoo Metal is non-hazardous, non-flammable and approved for use in post-processing stages of BASF Ultrafuse® 316L. Magigoo Metal also allows for easy removal of parts from the build plate.

WHY

BASF Ultrafuse 316L enables the production of solid 316L grade stainless steel parts using desktop FDM 3D printers and a sintering process. Ultrafuse® 316L filament consists of highly refined metal particles embedded in thermoplastic binders. As such, the metal-polymer composite filament poses none of the labour and safety risks associated with handling fine metal powders. This enables cost-effective, straightforward and safe 3D printing of stainless steel parts. Printed parts with BASF Ultrafuse® 316L are prone to warping due to the thermoplastic nature of the filament binder materials and the differential thermal cooling during FDM printing. Due to the sensitivity of the material, care must be taken when removing parts printed with BASF Ultrafuse® 316L to avoid deformation of the part. Magigoo Metal ensures safe and reliable adhesion during printing and allows easy removal of the printed part by immersion in water, avoiding possible damage to the part.

HOW

A heating bed temperature of 95 - 105 °C is recommended when using Magigoo Metal with BASF Ultrafuse® 316L. However, printing conditions may vary from printer to printer.

  • Shake the bottle
  • Apply to the desired area by pressing the tip onto the bed (activate the inner valve) and spread as needed
  • Print according to the filament / printer manufacturer's recommendations
  • After printing. Immerse the entire build plate in water or soak the part in water. After a short time - usually 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size of the part - the part should come off by itself or be easy to remove with a slight twist
  • Remove residue - Wipe off with a damp cloth

Note

Using this product with filaments other than BASF Ultrafuse 316L may cause over-adhesion and damage the surface. Follow the instructions in the technical data sheet to achieve the best results.
