Product information & technical details

Description

The Prusa MK4S to CORE One+ (Gen 2) Conversion Kit upgrades an existing Original Prusa MK4S into a fully enclosed CoreXY 3D printer — the Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2). The kit includes the complete steel exoskeleton, CoreXY motion system, revised Gen 2 heatbed mounting system and all small parts required for the conversion. Key MK4S assemblies such as the Nextruder, electronics, print sheets and hotend are retained and reused.

Reuse of existing MK4S components

The CORE One+ deliberately shares many components with the MK4S. Print sheets, the hotend and nozzles, the Nextruder assembly, electronics and display (newer xLCD version) are reused directly. This is what makes the conversion possible in the first place and also means that existing accessories can continue to be used.

► Compatibility check before purchase: The kit is compatible exclusively with the Original Prusa MK4S and is designed for the newer xLCD electronics revision. Owners of the older xLCD version will require additional components and should check this in advance. The silver power supply is not compatible with the conversion kit and may need to be replaced.

Fully enclosed CoreXY architecture

Instead of moving the heavy print bed as on the MK4S, the CORE One+ uses a lightweight printhead driven by a CoreXY motion system. This enables significantly higher speeds without compromising print quality. Input Shaper compensates for vibrations, while travel speeds of up to 600 mm/s are possible. The all-steel exoskeleton is not simply an enclosure; it also contributes structurally to the rigidity of the machine.

Actively heated chamber for demanding materials

The compact print chamber quickly reaches temperatures of up to 55 °C. This makes it possible to print materials such as ASA, ABS, PC, nylon and carbon fibre-reinforced filaments with a reduced risk of corner lifting or delamination. Active temperature control also ensures that PLA can be printed reliably with the door closed.

Automatic ventilation control — new in Gen 2

The extruder automatically opens the chamber ventilation when printing lower-temperature materials such as PLA or PETG and closes it again for high-temperature materials.

Revised heatbed mounting system

The redesigned Gen 2 heatbed mounting system eliminates the separate heating or burn-in waiting period required on earlier versions and supports bed temperatures of up to 85 °C. This reduces the preparation time before printing begins.

Easier loading of flexible filaments

A redesigned filament entry point makes loading TPU and other flexible materials considerably easier. Combined with the new bayonet-style spool holder, which accommodates different spool sizes and is prepared for direct connection to a dry box, this makes overall filament handling more convenient.

Finer surface quality with GT1.5 belts and nozzle wiper

New GT1.5 belts contribute to finer surface quality, while an integrated nozzle wiper ensures a clean nozzle at the start of every print. Both components form part of the Gen 2 revision compared with the original CORE One generation.

Up-to-date firmware from the outset

After the conversion, the machine benefits from all firmware improvements developed throughout the lifetime of the CORE One from the first power-up. There is therefore no need to manually update through multiple firmware generations.

Additional features:

  • converts an existing MK4S instead of requiring the purchase of a second printer,
  • fully enclosed, actively heated CoreXY steel enclosure,
  • chamber temperature up to 55 °C, bed temperature up to 85 °C,
  • automatic ventilation control depending on material type,
  • travel speeds of up to 600 mm/s thanks to CoreXY and Input Shaper,
  • new bayonet-style spool holder, prepared for dry box connection,
  • easier loading of flexible filaments such as TPU,
  • around 50% less space required than an enclosed MK4S,
  • reuses MK4S print sheets, hotend, Nextruder and electronics.
